Car crashes into NW-side Gold's Gym

A photo at the scene showed the car several feet inside the gym location.

SAN ANTONIO - A BMW sedan crashed into a Gold's Gym location at Loop 1604 and Bandera Road Tuesday morning, according to KENS 5's crew at the scene.

Officers from the San Antonio Police Department were on scene investigating the incident. Three people reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Police say us a 56-year-old woman was driving a black BMW with disabled veteran license plates, and appeared to be aiming to park in one of the handicapped spaces in front of the gym just before 10:45 this morning. She told them she had some sort of medical episode which caused her to black out.

At that point the car crashed through the front doors and hit the customer service counter before stopping just beyond the counter. A female employee who was working behind the counter, and a female customer were both received minor injuries in the incident. Both the driver and customer were transported for treatment by EMS.

The car was removed by police about an hour later and driven away.
