SAN ANTONIO — Family members of Brianna de la Cruz, a 20-year-old woman whose body was found on the side of South Foster Road Thursday, want answers to her murder. Police say she was shot to death.
"It's still like a dream. I don't think this is happening right now," said David de la Cruz, Brianna's father.
Brianna is David's only child. She had four boys ranging in age from five years to a newborn. Now David de la Cruz is taking care of three of those boys, the baby is with the child's father.
David says Brianna was abducted by a family friend for two years when she was twelve. That man is now in prison. He says because of that traumatic experience when Brianna returned, she was partying a lot.
"I tried to tell her to stop, but I mean I remember when I was 20 years old, I would do the same thing, I would go out, I wanted to be rebellious," he said.
David says Brianna was ready to turn her life around. The family held a small vigil on Foster Road Friday to celebrate her life. They say they want answers and justice, especially for her young sons, who will now grow up without a mother.
"I just told him that Jesus has her right now sleeping and we'll see her again soon," her father said.
Police say they're searching for a suspect in Brianna's murder as her family mourns a young life cut tragically short.
If you'd like to donate money to help Brianna's father with expenses for her sons you can donate at the family's GoFundMe page.
