SAN ANTONIO — A club-goer is in serious condition after being shot by a security guard at a popular nightclub north of downtown overnight.
According to San Antonio Police, a patron who was highly intoxicated was asked to leave Club Essence. Investigators said a security guard escorted him outside of the club. Once they were in the parking lot, the two began to struggle. A friend of the patron joined in and put the security guard in a choke hold. The security guard grabbed his weapon and shot the friend in the stomach.
Police were called to the 800 block of Lexington Avenue around 12:45 a.m.
The shooting victim was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center in serious condition.
The security guard was interviewed by police and will not be charged.
