Spurs' Keldon Johnson is heading to Laredo, Texas, for a meet-and-greet with fans

Fans in Laredo will have a chance to meet the Spurs forward in May.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs' Keldon Johnson is proving he is about giving back to the fans no matter where they are in Texas and is set to show his appreciation to fans in Laredo, Texas, in May.

The Spurs forward will attend a meet-and-greet in Laredo on May 17 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Kangaroo Fun Zone, 6310 McPherson Rd., Laredo, TX 78041.

It's all to bring pro-NBA players to Laredo, says Danny Lona, organizer of the Johnson meet-and-greet.

"I bring in the players through my organization, Swish City, and I let local basketball organizations be the front runners in the player's camp," said Swish City's Lona. "I've been doing this for six-plus years with George Hill and Danny Green."

"I have had tremendous outcomes by having other players reach out or wanting to do camps with me."

The upcoming Johnson meet-up is one of many events that will be coming soon to Laredo.

Border City Hoops will host the "Ballin on the Rio" basketball camp for second through eighth-grade kids, with Johnson participating. It's set for Saturday, May 18, at 0-100 Sportsplex in Laredo from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

"Kangaroo Fun Zone has been a part of our camps before, but this time, they wanted Keldon for a meet-and-greet," Lona said.

Since joining the team, Johnson has supported the local San Antonio community and the surrounding cities.

Outside of basketball camps, he also supports local San Antonio companies. It was recently announced that he partnered with Beldon Roofing Company.

This partnership will bring essential community events to San Antonio, such as this past Thanksgiving's Turkey Drive, where 300 turkeys were given to local families, and the Christmas Toy Drive, "Cheerful Slam Jam," where free toys were given to 400 kids on San Antonio's Eastside.

Overall, Johnson has positively impacted the community since becoming a Spur. He's contributed to keeping San Antonio's rivers clean and has gone above and beyond for Lanier High School.

Lona also teased more events are on the horizon in Laredo for all Spurs fans to enjoy.
