More than a month after Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, hundreds of rescued animals still need new homes.
Over 50 dogs and cats who were evacuated to San Antonio made the trip by air to Idaho, Wyoming, and Oregon Friday morning.
Once they make the eight-hour trip by air they will be sent to shelters in those states.
The rescue transport is in thanks to the partnership between San Antonio Pets Alive and the nonprofit, Dog is My Copilot. The organizations said the dogs being sent to other states were given up by their owners in Houston who could no longer house them and some were at risk for euthanasia.
Now, thanks to the rescue flight, all of the pets will get a second chance at finding a new home.
