Drugs found in cab of 18-wheeler involved in high-speed case across Houston area

Christopher Lubowski, 51, was charged with evading a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — Bond has been set for the man accused of leading multiple law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase across the Houston area Saturday.

Christopher Lubowski, 51, was charged with evading a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $150,000.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said the chase started when the Patton Village Police Department got a call about  Lubowski driving erratically on the highway. During a chase, he sped through four different counties and led officers through several interstates and busy surface streets, all while running red lights and crashing into vehicles along the way, investigators said.

Police dash cam video even captured the moment the big rig made a U-turn in the middle of a highway.

The 2-hour long chase finally ended in Fulshear after DPS troopers shot out several tires to stop the truck.

In court, prosecutors revealed drugs were found in the cab of the truck.

"It tested positive for methamphetamine, weighing in at 13 grams,” prosecutors said.

In a video from Lubowski's court appearance, you can hear him interrupting the bond hearing to talk to the judge.

“Why I was doing it..." Lubowski could be heard saying.

The judge then responded he needed to stay quiet.

"More so than anybody in this room Chris, you want to keep your mouth completely shut right now. I know you can't wait to get it out, give it a week, and you'll get to say it all,” he said.

Fortunately, no one was hurt during the chase.

Lubowski is expected to make his first official court appearance in the coming days.
