Ryan Shoptaugh is a meteorologist at KENS 5 in San Antonio, TX.
Ryan was born right here in San Antonio. He attended three different high schools: Warren, Stevens and Brennan, where he graduated in 2012.
Shoptaugh joined the KENS 5 team in November 2021. He regularly anchors the weekend evenings newscasts and broadcasts weather explainers during the week.
Prior to moving back to San Antonio, he spent six months in the Rio Grande Valley as the weekend meteorologist for the CBS affiliate in Harlingen. Afterwards, he moved to Corpus Christi to the TEGNA-owned station.
After covering hurricanes and severe storms across deep South Texas for over two years, Ryan moved up to become the weekday morning meteorologist for KIII 3 News.
Ryan earned his bachelor's degree in Operational Meteorology from the University of the Incarnate Word, as well as a mathematics minor.
In his spare time, Ryan loves to exercise, swim and play basketball and soccer. He owns a mountain bike and loves to discover hidden trails in San Antonio.
He also enjoys long walks with his dog, Stormy.
