Vinnie Vinzetta is a sports multimedia journalist and anchor for KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas. He joined the KENS 5 Sports team in July 2011. His previous six years were spent at KENS 5's sister station KMSB in Tucson, Arizona, where he was sports director.
Before that, Vinnie spent eight years in Lubbock working for the NBC affiliate, and then, in his last three years, at the FOX station, where he was sports director as well.
While at FOX Lubbock, Vinnie was the host/producer for the Texas Tech University sports programs and the play-by-play television voice for the Texas Tech Television Network. He had the privilege of broadcasting Bob Knight's career 800th victory, which ESPN ran live in the final minutes. It was certainly a career highlight for Vinnie!
Vinnie was born and raised in southeast Oklahoma on gorgeous Lake Eufaula. He graduated from high school in Indianola, Okla., where K through 12 was all in the same building! Vinnie attended Oklahoma City University, a private Methodist university, near downtown Oklahoma City, graduating in 1996. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity chapter, where he was vice president for two years. He was the only brother ever selected Brother Of The Year three years in a row!
Vinnie remembers the difficult days surrounding the bombing of the Federal Building downtown and recalls the tremendous outpouring of support for everyone that was affected. He's very proud of the way his city has bounced back and healed!
Vinnie is a huge champion of the adoption cause and fully supports the effort as his life was changed forever on January 23, 2011. That was the day, after 20 years of searching, that he finally made contact for the first time with his birth family.
Vinnie is the youngest of six children and was the only one who was given up for adoption. He says it's been an amazing blessing in his life! Since the discovery, he has met all three of his sisters and his brother, Stephen. He has yet to meet his brother, Shawn, but is hoping to soon!
Vinnie loves to play golf, watch movies and work out (sometimes LOL.) He also loves sports, obviously! He says there are not many things that can rival the feel and the emotions of being at the stadium, the field or the arena!
Vinnie especially loves the outdoors and animals. He can never get enough of nature shows and "Animal Planet!" In fact, he went to Yellowstone National Park for his birthday just before moving to South Central Texas. He fell in love with it and says everybody should visit the "People's Park!"
Vinnie is thrilled to be in San Antonio! He loves giving back to his community and is always willing to help any special cause, so please let him know how he can help!
