SAN ANTONIO — A hidden southside restaurant located on the Mission Del Lago golf course has quickly become a respected staple in the area.
Golfers and guests from across the city are welcome to enjoy Rockin’ G Grill. The restaurant serves mouth-watering American classics including burgers, wings, tacos, sandwiches, and more.
The grill opened in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic by golf enthusiast and business entrepreneur Ray Garza.
“Golf got really popular and this venue here at Mission Del Lago didn’t have a great food option at all. We were able to launch a food truck here and from there over the next few years we were able to come into the brick-and-mortar space and create what you see here today at Rockin’ G Grill," Garza said.
Garza said their dishes are hand-seasoned daily, they only use fresh ingredients and everything is made-to-order.
“Feels good, feels right, and feels homey," he said.
Guests can enjoy their meal in a family-friendly atmosphere with wide open space, and a great view of the course.
“I think you get a great bang for your buck," he added.
Many of their menu items are unique including the Erika’s Egg Sandwich – named after Garza’s wife. The sandwich is made with egg, cheese, bacon, and lettuce on toasted bread.
Another fan favorite is the Out of Bounds Burrito or “The O.B. Burrito” loaded with everything commonly found in a breakfast taco including bacon, chorizo, potato, egg, bean and cheese.
“We’re able to offer a great product and keep our prices as low as possible and people really love to come and eat our American food," Garza said.
Garza said he never planned to open a restaurant but understood the business industry and simply combined that with his love of food to create the hidden gem.
“I think it’s probably one of the best kept secrets here on the southside," Garza said.
