SAN ANTONIO — So what if dessert after dinner was healthy followed by healthy? Can there be such a thing? Well there just might be with one of our most favorite sweet treats! We found 'Freshest Ice Creams' just off I-10 and Callaghan. 'It's delicious and has that good consistency,' said owner Angela Cordoba. 'It is ready to enjoy!'
The idea of 'Freshest Ice Creams' was born in Colombia and Brazil. It is prepared lactose free and vegan style. And we know what you're thinking. Healthy ice cream? Yes, actually! 'It has a little bit of sugar, but the rest is fresh fruit and fresh ingredients,' she said. And sixteen different flavors to go around, too!
Angela dreamed big six plus years ago living in her native South America, and now residing in San Antonio she's living her dream for real! 'I'm lactose intolerant, and I love ice cream,' she said. 'The problem is that I can't enjoy real ice cream because it has dairy, so why not prepare lactose free ice cream,' she added.
Angela told us everything is made from scratch with no artificial colors, flavors or chemicals. 'The magic is in the fresh fruits and good products,' she said. Angela let me be the judge of that and lemme tell ya, the sweet is definitely in the treat! 'When I started saying it was vegan everyone started coming here,' she said. 'Everyday we have new customers that find us on Google, Facebook and Instagram. A healthy nice way to get some ice cream without the guilty. Freshest! To be fresh!'
