Here's the scoop on a new veteran-owned ice cream shop 'Chill-Out Tasty Treats' | Neighborhood Eats

The father and son duo desired a more laid-back approach to life after serving the country.

SAN ANTONIO — With this hot streak of weather – it’s time to chill out!

Opening up shop three months ago, Chill Out Tasty Treats is serving up soft-serve, milkshakes and smiles for San Antonians young and old!

They're located at 5525 Blanco Road, Suite 111.

Owner, Roger Combs said he doesn't skimp on anything when it comes to providing the freshest ingredients for the sweetest treats. And nothing on the menu is more than eight dollars!

“All our fruit toppings have fruit in them," Combs said.  "We don’t do syrups. We try to give you something you’ll love and want to come back for.”

So, how did Chill-Out Tasty Treats come to be? Combs and his wife took a trip to Hawaii!

"She tried the Dole pineapple soft serve," Combs said. "We come back to the states, she can’t find it anywhere.”

After buying so much of it for the house, Combs decided to embark on an ice cream shop. His son, Roger Combs II, manages the store.

“It’s a lot of fun making someone’s ice cream, especially when they get a special order item," his son said. "I’ve had people order a Reese’s peanut butter banana split!’ He continued, “Soft serve is real popular! We have shakes. We do a lot of off-menu items. As long as it’s on the menu somewhere. We can mix and match it.”

Here's a small preview into the menu: Mangonada split, 'Cobalt Cookie’ ice cream, ice cream nachos and the 'Oreo Lovers' treat.

They also offer 10% off for military and first responders every day!
