SAN ANTONIO — Cosplayers and comic book artists are probably the first thing you think of when it comes to comic cons, but long lines probably aren't that far behind.
The pop culture gatherings are lucrative business for the celebrities who trek around the country to meet their fans--albeit often for a pretty penny. That includes here in San Antonio, where Superhero Comic Con is returning to the Freeman Coliseum grounds this weekend and bringing some of Hollywood's hottest actors with it.
From "The Lord of the Rings'" Andy Serkis to "Percy Jackson and the Olympians'" Walker Scobell, here how much it'll cost you to meet or get a photo with Superhero Comic Con 2024's biggest-name visitors.
Chris Pine (Friday and Saturday)
Since taking up James T. Kirk's mantle in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" reboot 15 years ago, Pine has gone on to appear in various other major Hollywood franchises, entrenching himself as an enduring contender in the ongoing Chris Wars. In addition to roles in "Wonder Woman" and the Broadway adaptation of "Into the Woods," Pine has also stretched his dramatic muscles in projects like "Hell or High Water" and "All the Old Knives."
He recently wrote and directed his first feature, "Poolman," which he also starred in.
Autographs from Pine will cost $275 while photos with the leading man will cost $250.
Diego Luna (Friday and Saturday)
The Mexican actor has been acting for more than 30 years, but it was Luna's role as Cassian Andor in the "Star Wars" universe that launched him to a new level of stardom in recent years.
Autographs from Luna will cost $185 while photos with the actor will cost $165.
Orlando Bloom (Friday and Saturday)
His roles as swoony pirate Will Turner and swashbuckling elf Legolas in the 2000s made Bloom one of the most widely-seen actors of that decade, and most recently he was seen in the racing film "Gran Turismo" and the brutal 2019 war movie "The Outpost"
Autographs from Bloom will cost $170 while photos with him will cost $135.
Andy Serkis (Friday and Saturday)
You might not immediately recognize his face, but you've surely seen his work: Serkis helped revolutionize the film industry with his motion-captured performances as Gollum in "The Lord of the Rings" and later Caesar in the modern "Planet of the Apes" films.
He's also popped up in other franchises you might have heard of, including "Star Wars," "Black Panther" and the Robert Pattinson edition of "The Batman."
Autographs from Serkis will run you $110 and photographs with the British actor will cost $125.
Pom Klementieff (Thursday - Saturday)
Appearances in "The Suicide Squad," "Guardians of the Galaxy," "The Avengers" and, most recently, the "Mission: Impossible" movies have helped put Klementieff on the fast track to stardom.
Autographs from Klementieff will cost $75 while photos with her are going for $85.
Tatiana Maslany (Saturday and Sunday)
The Canadian actress has been steadily working for 20 years but found much wider exposure when she starred in the Disney+ show "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law."
Autographs and photos from Maslany will both cost $80.
Iman Vellani (Saturday and Sunday)
The newest edition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe ensemble, Vellani was most recently seen in last fall's "The Marvels," in which she played the shapeshifting hero Kamala Khan.
Autographs and photos from Vellani will both cost $80.
As for the rest...
Various other celebs are appearing at Superhero Comic Con for autograph and photo sessions with fans, among them Scobell, Ernie Hudson ("Ghostbusters") Tom Glynn-Carney ("Dunkirk," "The Book of Clarence"), and a pair of Supermen in Tom Welling ("Smallville") and Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns").
Each is offering autographs and photos for less than 100 bucks. But those looking to snag a free autograph with a major name can get in line to meet RoboCop himself, Peter Weller, on Saturday and Sunday.
Superhero Comic Con runs Thursday through Sunday at the Freeman Coliseum Expo Halls. One-day admission starts at $95 for adults and $15 for kids.
