James Keith, who spent the past three years as chief communications officer for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, is joining KENS 5 as an investigative multimedia journalist.
Keith's background is in television news, including local experience as a weekend anchor and assistant news director for KABB-TV. He was in charge of the investigative team for KABB and WOAI before joining former Sheriff Susan Pamerleau's staff in 2014.
"James has a long history here in San Antonio, and we're thrilled to be adding him to our team," said Jack Acosta, KENS 5 news director.
Keith also worked locally as communications director for Judson ISD. He has previous television experience in Austin and Victoria.
"I grew up in south Texas watching KENS 5 newscasts with my grandma," Keith said. "I looked up to anchors like Chris Marrou and others at KENS 5 and decided I wanted to work in TV."
Keith received a bachelor's degree in radio and television from Sam Houston State University.
"The future of journalism is in investigative reporting," he said. "I feel like all of the steps in my career have prepared me to make a difference."
