SAN ANTONIO — After more than a decade of waking up early to bring San Antonio the news, morning anchor Sarah Forgany will be moving dayside beginning Monday, Nov. 25. Forgany will co-anchor the station’s noon and 4 p.m. newscasts alongside Audrey Castoreno and the 5 p.m. newscast with Deborah Knapp.

“After waking up at 1:30 a.m. for the last 13 years, I’m smashing that alarm clock and sleeping in a bit. I look forward to being with my daughter, Bella, when she wakes up in the morning,” Forgany said. “I hope our viewers who had breakfast with me all of those years will also be able to join me for lunch and dinner.”

“After having Bella and a recent health scare, I’m grateful for this opportunity to work a more normal schedule where I can focus more on family and my health.”

Forgany, who has been part of KENS 5’s Emmy Award-winning local news coverage since she joined KENS 5 in 2010, will continue to honor local teachers with the KENS 5 EXCEL Awards.

She is active in the San Antonio community. Her charitable work includes working with the American Heart Association and serving as an ambassador for the Valero Texas Open Champions Fore Charity. She also has organized two hurricane relief supply drives.

Forgany moderated the 2018 Texas Senate debate between Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke, which was broadcast throughout the state.

“When Sarah asked whether it was possible to adjust her schedule, we started exploring how that might be accomplished. She has made a tremendous impact on our morning newscasts, and we look forward to her contributions at 12, 4 and 5 p.m.,” said Tom Cury, KENS 5 president and general manager.

Forgany's last day on the KENS 5 morning newscast will be Friday, Nov. 22.
