Instagram darling, Grayze, is throwing out the brunch rule book

Tucked away in a welcoming home-like cottage on Grayson is some of the most cutting-edge brunch cuisine you will find in San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO — If you haven't seen your friends tagged at Grayze yet, chances are you probably will soon.

The restaurant, inside of a quaint house on Grayson Street, east of Broadway, has made a name for itself on social media with its appetizing pictures of unusual brunch dishes. The chefs at Grayze are turning the mid-to-late morning meal on its head and constantly challenging themselves with new styles and concepts.

One example of this is their Chicken and Waffles. Staff describe it as "Chicken in a waffle, inside of another waffle". The chicken is fried in a waffle batter and served in a gourmet waffle ice cream-type cone. It's served with a whiskey syrup, creme anglaise and wild berry compote. Its not like any Chicken and Waffles you have seen before.

Another popular and totally photo-worthy creation is the customizable "Wet Fries". They are gourmet fries served with your choice of green chile pork carnitas or brisket in a red gravy. Whichever version you choose is topped with melted cheese and two sunny-side up eggs.

Grayze has also perfected the best beignets this side of New Orleans. The classic pastry is topped with powdered sugar and served with a caramel coffee dipping sauce. They are a diet-buster, but so worth it!

Of course, food is not the only thing Grayze is known for. Their cocktails are works of art in themselves. One of the signature drinks is their cereal milk cocktails, a childhood staple with an added adult twist. The one pictured below is the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal milk with scotch and brown sugar. The cereal milk is harvested exactly the way you are imagining. The milk is soaked by hand in the cereal to absorb the nostalgic goodness.

Another thing that distinguishes Grayze's brunch from the rest is that it is served through the week, rather than just on weekends.
