SAN ANTONIO — Neighbors in a rural southeast-side community say a 200-pound hog called "Pigpig" has been roaming the neighborhood alone since early June.
They've taken turns feeding her, leaving water on their porches and tossing food over the fence of the abandoned house she has a pig pen in. Neighbors like Bonnie Carr are now looking for someone to sweep this swine off her feet.
Carr is on a mission to link this sausage to a home. Weighing 200 pounds, Pigpig is no piglet!
“I had found an animal therapy farm that was going to take her, and then he backed out.”
Pigpig’s original owner left town, leaving her wandering.
She’s called several animal rescues, but none of them have the space or resources to take care of Pigpig.
So, Carr has turned to her neighbors, who are doing all they can.
“My neighbor across the street, she puts food out sometimes when she sees her,” Carr said. “This friend over here, she dropped food over the fence.”
This pork rind was a bit ham-era-shy.
“There was a rescue ranch, they were going to take her," Carr said. "I went to go see the facility and it was like a big dog kennel they were going to put her in."
