KERRVILLE, Texas — A dog is now safe after being found abandoned inside a crate on a rural road in Kerrville, left out in the cold and rain all night.
When shelter staff arrived Wednesday morning they found the dog locked inside her crate outside the fence at the Freeman Fritts Animal Welfare Society on 515 Spur 100 in Kerrville. The dog's food and water bowls, as well as a trash can filled with food was left sitting on top of it, all covered by a towel.
The towel was soaked through from the rain by the time staff arrived. The poor dog inside the crate was shivering and scared.
Kerrville Pets Alive! wants to remind you that it is illegal to dump animals. The shelter says they have cameras located outside and are carefully reviewing the footage from Tuesday night.
If you have any information about who may have left this dog at the shelter, please contact the folks at Freeman Fritts Vet Clinic and Shelter, and they will contact law enforcement.
If you'd like to adopt or foster this dog, contact the shelter.
