SAN ANTONIO — The Spekboom Lodge is now allowing guests to stay overnight. Its first guests will be checking in on Friday. KENS 5 got a sneak peak of the lodge that the zoo describes as an "ultra-exclusive overnight lodge."
Senior Director of Public Relations at San Antonio Zoo Cyle Perez said the lodge allows up to four guests.
"There is a main living space," he said. "It is a great to spot to hang out having your morning coffee, wine down with board games."
In the living room, there is everything you would expect to find, including a pull-out bed right next to a view.
"You can sleep right next to the giraffes," Perez said.

Right next to the living room, there is a large patio. This is all in the heart of the Naylor Savanna, which houses the giraffes, zebras and ostriches. Perez said that's the selling point for the lodge, are the views and being close to the giraffes like Alan, Cosmo, and Brayden.
The lodge does have a bathroom right next to primary suite with a king-sized bed. The room also has huge windows where you can see the wildlife. There's even room service too.
"Spekboom Lodge starts at $840 and it goes up from there with peak times," Perez said. "It is like a rentable lodge, where you check which days are available."
Perez said part of what the guests will pay goes back to help the giraffes.
"A portion of the proceeds goes to Giraffe Conservation International, which helps these giraffes in the wild," he said. "That's the main focus of what we do here is education and conservation."
Staying at the lodge also allows guests access to exploring the zoo two hours after closing and an hour before opening. For more information, click here.
