Bianca Carrasco's family hosts birthday outreach event for answers eight years after she went missing

Bianca was last seen on May 1, 2016 leaving her home in northeast San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Family and friends of Bianca Carrasco are keeping her name and legacy alive eight years after she went missing.

Carrasco was last seen walking outside her home in the northeast side.

This year, Carrasco's family is taking a different approach to find her.

Carrasco's family and friends went to Friesenhahn Park to share flyers as a reminder that she's still missing and needs to be found.

Bianca's family says they specifically chose this weekend to spread awareness for her birthday.

"I was the big sister. I was going to protect my little sister, and that's what I'm here to do to still continue to speak out for her and not let this go. I'm never going to stop fighting for her," said Jovanna Burney, Bianca's sister.

Bianca's family and friends came from Houston and Odessa to pray and share these flyers across northeast San Antonio.

This is the first time Bianca's family is doing a public event on her birthday.

"We will continue to share her case, her story. Talk about her. Look for her. Do everything we can to find her," said Rosa Lincon, Bianca's friend.

The work will continue on Sunday with Bianca's family and friends launching a social media campaign so more people can learn her story.

They're using the hashtags #helpfindbiancacarrasco and #pinkforbianca.

"I'm going to post again and again and again until someone comes forward and gives the truth so that we can find my sister," said Burney.

Bianca's case is still an active and open investigation for SAPD.

Crime Stoppers is now offering a reward of up to $5000 for information leading to an arrest.

On Sunday, Bianca would be 38-years-old.
