SAN ANTONIO — A Kerrville man walked into a pawn shop on Wednesday to buy a gun but when he walked out, he realized his truck was stolen.
Robert Forster said he didn't really care about his truck, he just wanted his dog Missy, who was inside the truck when it was stolen.
KENS 5 contacted Forster and he asked for help, desperate to find his 7-year-old chihuahua, which to him is his world.
While we were looking into his story, he got a call from police.
After nearly two days of searching, Missy ended up back in his arms.
Forster visited the Action Pawn in the 3700 block of N.W. Loop 410 near Fredericksburg Road, when he walked out his truck and Missy were gone.
Forster said he hoped that whoever took the truck, would have let Missy out, so he tried to find her.
"So I walked down Fredericksburg road. All the way down and on one side and walked all the way up the other side, yelling her name, but never came out poor baby girl,” said Forster.
Then Friday morning, as we were able to interview Forster about the theft and his search, a Christmas miracle happened.
An alert maintenance worker at the Mosaic at Medical Apartments noticed a truck in their parking lot, that they didn't recognize with a dog inside, so they called police
Police were able to figure out it was Forster's truck with Missy inside, and we were there for the emotional reunion.
Forster says when he was able to hold Missy, it was like he had won the lottery to have his baby back because to him, she is like his child.
Forster also says he wants to thank everyone who tried to help after he posted the theft on Facebook.
