AUSTIN, Texas — Every week on KVUE Daybreak, Hannah Rucker interviews a different child currently in Texas foster care who is looking to be adopted by a forever family.
Moses is a sweet and friendly 12-year-old who just finished up the fifth grade. He's excited for a fun summer before he heads into middle school in the fall.
Moses enjoyed a day of dirt biking at Little Speedsters in Dripping Springs. Owner Christophe Hardenne was so patient with Moses as he learned how to use the bike and carefully go over hills in the track. The staff with Ride Now Power Sports provided gear for Moses to wear and keep.
Jo Ann Winborn works at Moses's group home and often cooks meals for the kids. She said Moses is a very well behaved child who likes to follow the rules at school and at home.
"This little guy is the most unpretentious, loving kid I've known for a long time," Winborn said. "He's very pure. He is what he is."
She also said Moses is working on reading a big book right now.
"I love the 'Harry Potter' movie, so I'm reading it this summer," Moses said.
Moses has an intellectual disability, so it can sometimes take him a little extra time to understand things. He said he's very proud of himself for passing the STAAR test and working hard to wrap up the school year.
"I'm happy because I took time time, trying to make sure I found the right answer," Moses said.
Moses has been in and out of foster care throughout his life and is ready to stay in one place.
"I want to stay in one family and not move to another family and have to move on," Moses said.

KVUE launched the Forever Families segment with Partnerships for Children (PFC) in June 2020 to highlight children in the Heart Gallery of Central Texas who need secure and permanent families. Every day, there are nearly 1,000 children waiting to get adopted in Central Texas, according to PFC.
