'Accept me for who I am' | 11-year-old Jurney looking for her 'Forever Family'

SJRC foster youth said having her own family would be "heaven".

SAN ANTONIO — This week, we met 11-year-old Miss Jurney.

She currently resides at the Hill Country Youth Ranch near Ingram. She'll turn 12 next month! She loves music. She loves to sing. She loves gymnastics. And she loves playing Minecraft among other kiddo things.

But more than anything, she would love to find her 'Forever Family'.

I teased her during the interview that if I would sing she would have to sing too, but she wasn't having any of that. But I still sang! And it went like this, "This is Jurney! She's amazing!" I think she was embarrassed, and also encouraged me not to quit my day job!

We also talked about the kind of young lady that she is.

"Some occasions sassy, and some occasions nice," she said. "I'm nice, smart and sweet," she continued, with me adding "beautiful" in the middle of all that. 'I'm friendly,' she said.

I told Jurney we were checking lots of boxes which was a good thing! We also talked about what it might be like for her to have her own mom and dad.

"Accept me for who I am," she said. "Face my needs, always see if I'm okay, work with me and help me if I'm sad to try and cheer me up."

And when I asked Jurney what it would be to finally have her own 'Forever Family,' she was perfect and to the point.

"It would be heaven," she said.
