SAN ANTONIO — Cyborgs, nebulas, aliens and astronauts.
A new ice cream shop with a "sci-fly" menu will catapult you straight into outer space.
The snacks aren't the only space-themed treat.
When KENS 5 checked out the cosmic confections at SNAK-X, we felt like a kid again.
The business, located at 8104 Tezel Road, opened in mid-December.
As you walk in, look up. You'll see clouds, planets, lights and murals — all out of this world.
"It's so pretty! I can't stand how pretty it is!" said Lyric Valencia, 5, who visits SNAK-X weekly with her family.
Her older brother Hayden, 8, walked in with a burning question: "I wanna know if aliens are real or not," he wondered.
The SNAK-X Ice Creamiverse concept comes from the minds of owners Daphne Alvarado and Joe Velez.
"Nowadays, all you hear is aliens, aliens, aliens," Velez said. "You know, Space-X, it was synonymous. We went with SNAK-X and [Daphne] came up with Ice Creamiverse."
Aside from serving straight up vibes, SNAK-X's eye-popping creations are driving social media wild.
"We got people coming in from Austin, Houston, Pleasanton," Velez said.
Popular orders include the Alien SangreNada, the Stardust Queen and the Mango Dilly.
"It's a mango Italian ice with red and green chamoy, tajin, pickles, a pickled Chinese candy, picosito belt and a tamarindo stick," explained Alvarado.
They're serving sweet and salty celestial treats with a San Antonio flair.
"The Alien SangreNada. I was like, we'll go try that with some pineapples. Then the nachos just looked so good. We had to come!" said customer John Vela, a first-time patron of SNAK-X.
The nachos captured Vela's attention on Great Day SA, when SNAK-X made a live appearance.
Velez listed the ingredients for their Nebula Nachos Supreme: "It has cheese, chicken and sausage mix, pico de gallo, avocado cream I make in house, and the habanero cream I make in house."
Their hot sellers right now are milkshakes: The Christian Cyborg and Buggy Blast, named after the owners' sons.
"Most ice cream places don't really do this... I wanted the clouds over there because most gamers like them," said customer Mekhi Payne, pointing to the colorful clouds display at the front of the business.
The idea for this space-themed ice cream shop started with designing the restroom, Velez said.
"I wanted to create the bathroom like some kind of space ship, space port... where you've entered into another dimension," he explained.
From there, he decided to stick with the space theme for the entire establishment.
Trust us, their restroom is an experience in itself.
For Velez, he says his mind is always coming up with new, fun ideas. New on the menu are bubble waffles.
"We're gonna do them in green and purple with alien figures we're gonna make out of chocolate," Velez said. "Something that's gonna go viral, something they're gonna enjoy."
They're aiming for the summer to open location number two, walking distance from The Alamo and Shops at Rivercenter.
SNAK-X is open Tuesday through Thursday 1 to 9 p.m. and weekends from 1 to 10 p.m.
