SAN ANTONIO — One of the things San Antonio is known for is their tacos.

And that recognition sure was imminent in this Texas Monthly article.

José R. Ralat, Texas Monthly's 'taco editor,' released an article named The 50 Best Tacos in Texas recently.

The Alamo City was well represented.

San Antonio restaurants had 10 of the top 50 tacos on the list, the most of any city.

The highest ranked SA taco was the Big Red and Barbacoa taco flight at Stixs & Stone, ranked No. 8. Ralat called the taco "groundbreaking" and a "a paean to the iconic Alamo City pairing."

"Leo Davila’s culinary mission blends his San Antonio upbringing with his Chinese and Mexican American heritage," Ralat said in the article.

The other tacos and their restaurants from San Antonio were:

The No. 1 spot went to the Chile Relleno at the Ana Liz Taqueria in Mission, Texas. Interestingly, Chef Ana Liz Pulido attended the Culinary Institute of America, San Antonio. So while not in the Alamo City, there's still some San Antonio love in this Mission establishment.

Here's the Top 10 tacos:

  1. Ana Liz Taqueria (Mission): Chile Relleno
  2. Elemi (Horizon City): Conejito Pibil
  3. Azteca Taco House (Houston): Costillas en Salsa Verde
  4. Revolver Taco Lounge (Dallas): Pulpo Al Pastor
  5. Taqueria El Tiger (Dallas): Tripa y Tembloroso
  6. Taconeta (El Paso): Mushroom
  7. Papalo Taqueria (Houston): Zanahoria
  8. Stixs & Stone (San Antonio): Big Red and Barbacoa Taco Flight
  9. Maskaras Mexican Grill (Dallas): Tacos Ahogados GDL
  10. Nixta Taqueria (Austin): Enchilada Potosina

Austin also had eight tacos on the list, while Dallas and Houston each had five respectfully.
