SAN ANTONIO — If you celebrate Hanukkah during the holiday season and are looking for things to do in the Alamo City, look no further!
KENS 5 has compiled a list of Hanukkah events San Antonio has to offer in 2023. Known as Judaism's "festival of lights," Hanukkah (also spelled Chanukah in some transliterations from Hebrew) marks the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in the 2nd century BC, after a small group of Jewish fighters liberated it from occupying foreign forces.
The tradition of the nightly candle lighting memorializes what happened after the liberation, when a menorah lit by the fighters didn't go out for eight days.
