KERRVILLE, Texas — It's always exciting when we get to share happy news about a once overlooked pet finding a human to love and adopt them.
We shared Hudson's story with you at the end of May and he is now officially no longer forgotten! A KENS 5 viewer saw his story and adopted Hudson on Friday.
Hudson had been surrendered more than two years ago when his human had to move into a nursing home and couldn't take him.
"Hudson was such a happy dog and Makenzie, our shelter caretaker, and Kathryn and Charlotte, our walkers, will all miss him," said shelter staff in a Facebook post. "It was a sad, sweet day on Friday. Sad on our part missing someone that has been a joy to be our family until a forever home is found and so sweet for him as Hudson went home to a forever home."
The shelter said he just jumped right in her car after they all said their last farewell.
"It just goes to show that in time, sometimes a long time, that perfect person comes along that has lots of love to give," said the shelter.

Our "Forgotten Friends" series showcases a dog or cat each week that has spent a lengthy time at an area shelter, just waiting for someone to notice them and bring them home to love.
This week's Forgotten Friend is Hudson, an almost 11-year-old Collie and Lab mix that was surrendered to the Kathleen Cailloux Humane Society in Kerrville two years ago on March 29, 2022, after his owner got to be too old to take care of him. He has been waiting for someone to show up and choose him to love for over 785 days now.
"Hudson is always passed up by potential adopters because of his age and size," said the shelter staff. "All that he wants for his 11th birthday in July is a forever home to live out his golden years."
Hudson loves being petted and getting treats. His favorite treat is Milk Bones.
Hudson gets along really well with other dogs but hasn't shown any interest in cats. But shelter staff say he hasn't shown any aggression towards them either.
Because he's a senior, Hudson would do best with a family that is only adults or with a family that has older kids due to his age.
He is current on his vaccines and has been neutered. He is as healthy as a senior dog can be, however he does need to have his ears flushed once a week.

"Hudson is an amazing, loving boy who is just looking for his forever home to live out the rest of his life," said shelter staff. "He just wants someone to be with all the time, a loving companion."
If you are interested in adopting Hudson, or another dog or cat you can visit the Kathleen Cailloux Humane Society in Kerrville at 2900 Junction Highway. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until Noon and again from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The adoption fee for Hudson is $85.

For whoever adopts Hudson, Lucy's Doggy Daycare & Spa will be lending a paw by offering them a free "Glow Up" Day at the Spa, which includes a massage therapy bath and Pawdicure. One of Lucy's most cherished core values is to continue Lucy’s legacy of giving back to pups in need, as Lucy herself was a rescue!
The shelter says they can always use volunteers at their resale shop, which helps to support the shelter. The resale shop is staffed entirely by volunteers. You can support them by donating gently used items, or by stopping by and purchasing stuff. The shop is affectionately known as the "pick of the litter resale shop." The shop is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They are closed on Sundays and on major holidays. Call them at (830) 367-7755.
