Happy dog named Ocean adopted by KENS 5 viewer | Forgotten Friends

After waiting over 100 days for someone to notice him, Ocean was adopted after his story was featured on KENS 5.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — Another happy ending for one of our Forgotten Friends. After waiting more than 100 days for someone to notice him, Ocean was adopted by a KENS 5 viewer after we featured him on Forgotten Friends.

We wish Ocean all of the best in his new home!

Our "Forgotten Friends" series showcases a dog or cat each week that has spent time at an area shelter, just waiting for someone to notice them and bring them home to love.

On this week’s Forgotten Friends we meet Ocean, a one-year-old terrier pit bull mix that was found by Comal County Animal Control with another dog they named Tide, and brought to the Humane Society in New Braunfels (HSNBA) at the beginning of February, a little over 100 days ago.

Ocean loves to be around other dogs once he has been properly introduced, but hasn't met any cats yet.

He would thrive with a family that really understands dogs and their quirks.

"Ocean needs a family familiar with dog behavior and with plenty of patience," said HSNBA staff. "We're not sure what kind of past he has, but there are certain people, especially some men, that can really trigger him, and it makes him seem big and scary."

Ocean does have some behavioral things, but in general is a happy, loving, very loyal dog. "He will do anything for his people, and he aims to please," said HSNBA staff.

He loves treats, and that seems the best way to get him used to people that worry him a bit. He also adores scratches and just lounging around.

Ocean is healthy, current on all of his vaccines, and neutered.

His adoption fee is only $5 until May 15 because the shelter is taking part in Bissell's Clear the Shelters event.

You can submit your application for Ocean right here: https://www.hsnba.org/adopt/adopt-a-dog/.

Or visit the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area located at 3353 Morningside Drive in New Braunfels, call them at (830) 629-5287 or email them at GeneralInfo@HSNBA.org.

They are open:

  • Monday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Sundays and Holidays: Closed to the public

For whoever adopts Ocean, Lucy's Doggy Daycare & Spa will be lending a paw by offering them a free "Glow Up" Day at the Spa, which includes a massage therapy bath and Pawdicure. One of Lucy's most cherished core values is to continue Lucy’s legacy of giving back to pups in need, as Lucy herself was a rescue!

Could you be the right person for this fabulous dog?

HSNBA always needs more folks to help out with the animals. Do you want to get involved? CLICK HERE for more information.

Would you like to help the animals at the shelter? You can order from their Amazon Wish List!

CLICK HERE to see what they need most. Two things they really need right now are potty pads and peanut butter! They use the peanut butter to stuff puzzle toys. It gives the dogs something fun to do while they are stuck inside due to the cold. Just make sure it doesn’t have xylitol in it which is toxic to dogs!

As with all shelters, cash is always appreciated, since money comes in handy to pay the veterinary bills associated with saving all the animals in need.

Remember when you adopt a shelter pet, you save two lives... the one you bring home with you and the one that now will be saved because the shelter has more room.
