Cruising Kitchen is 'cruising' its way to San Antonio's west side, plans to add 100 new jobs

The company prides itself in being a leader in custom mobile business fabrication and has worked with several big names like Whataburger, Walmart and Raising Canes.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio company 'Cruising Kitchens' is cruising on over to the west side. It's new headquarters will be on more than six acres. The president of the company Cameron Davies said he also plans to add 100 new jobs.

"I have always wanted to be on the west side," Davies said. "We are excited about the development and moving over here."

The company prides itself in being a leader in custom mobile business fabrication and has worked with several big names like Whataburger, Walmart and Raising Canes, just to name a few.

"We take a lot of pride of what we do," he said.

He said they had four locations in different areas, like the east side and are consolidating into one spot. Its new headquarters is located off San Fernando and Guadalupe Street. It will be on 6.2 acres and over 200,000 square feet.

As for the new 100 jobs, Davies said they are pretty much looking for everything.

"Conceptual drawings, to electrical, plumbers, fabricators," he said.

His growth comes at a time where they're also tapping into new territory like more industrial builds.

"But now, it doesn't have to be a mobile asset, it can be a modular unit which is called an industrialized build," he said. "It allows you to take about a 1,000 square foot, footprint and do the exact same volume as you would a brick and mortar but not have the inside foot print."

With the growth, Davies said he's also looking at expanding his Second Chance Program. For example, they hire people who have been previously incarcerated. He said it has been successful.

"Look, when you don't have a place to work that means you don't have a place to live, which means you end up on the streets," he said. "If we can provide enough opportunity through work and living then they don't have an excuse to go back to the streets."

Cruising Kitchens is still in the middle of moving. But, he said they should be fully operational at the new spot in about 60 days. As for the other added on construction, he said it should take about a year.
