TABC suspends San Antonio bar's liquor license for a month after complaints of large crowds

The Well, located in the UTSA area, can't serve liquor for 30 days.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio bar that was recently able to welcome back customers after re-applying as a restaurant has been forced to put a hold on drink sales, following accusations that social distancing mandates weren't being enforced.

According to a release from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, there were multiple complaints of "large crowds and insufficient social distancing" stemming from business at The Well, located near UTSA. As a result, the TABC is revoking the businesses's ability to sell liquor for 30 days, starting Friday.

The TABC earlier this month loosened its regulations to allow bars to reopen so long as efforts were being taken to ensure that alcohol represented less than half of an establishment's sales. But bar-turned-restaurants still had to follow social distancing protocols as outlined by Gov. Greg Abbott as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
