Lamborghini arrives to San Antonio area as iconic car maker debuts its biggest US showroom

The starting price for the company's latest model: a cool $290,000.

SAN ANTONIO — You might start hearing a lot more revving up of car engines this fall.

On Friday evening, Lamborghini made its San Antonio-area debut, opening a 40,000-square-foot showroom that just so happens to be the iconic car maker's biggest in the U.S.  The dealership can be found at 27605 Interstate 10 in Boerne, which has a median household income of just under $83,000.

Now those families will be able to shell out $300,000 – or more – on some of the most distinctive super sportscars in the world.

"San Antonio is an important city, the second-largest city in Texas," said Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann on Friday, flanked by a space-grey Temerario model that he said can reach 212 mph. "Usually we open up a service point and then a dealership, but this goes very well together because the size of the city is very important."

The Boerne location is not only the biggest in the country; Winkelmann said it's also the 50th Lamborghini location in the Americas.

Further revving up excitement, the location will also serve as the regional destination to purchase the Temerario, Lamborghini's new hybrid model introduced earlier in August.

The company's fourth Texas dealership joins Fiat and Ferrari as the major European auto brands with San Antonio-area dealerships. This one debuted several months early; according to plans filed with the state last year, construction was initially expected to be completed by March 2025 off an estimated $10 million price tag.
