SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said a deputy at the Bexar County jail had to tase an inmate after the inmate punched another deputy.
The incident happened Thursday at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.
Officials say one of the deputies was putting 32-year-old Jonathan Garcia into handcuffs. At some point, deputies say Garcia turned around and punched the deputy. The deputy reportedly defended himself and punched the inmate.
The other deputy then deployed his taser to stop Garcia from resisting, officials said. The deputies placed Garcia into custody.
Officials say Garcia is facing two additional charges after the incident, including assault of a public servant and harrassment of a public servant.
