SAN ANTONIO — Typically a champion is determined before the parade.

On Tuesday afternoon in Williamsport, Pa., however, the 20 teams competing in the Little League World Series this month will first partake in the traditional Grand Slam Parade, one day before the tournament gets fully underway on the diamond.

The 18th Grand Slam Parade and Festival will also feature local high school bands and organizations, in addition to the players hunting for Little League World Series glory. It's set to begin in 4:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed live out of this article.

Boerne is in the tourney for the first time, representing the Southwest Region after defeating Louisiana 6-3 last week. The Texas team will play Council Rock Newton of the Mid-Atlantic Region in both teams' first game at 6 p.m. CT Thursday. Should Boerne win, they would next play on August 19.

Speaking to KENS 5 the day before leaving for Pennsylvania, members of Boerne Little League called playing in the annual tournament a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

"We got home and there was about five people outside my house with signs," said Boerne pitcher Julian Hurst. "The attention has been overwhelming. After the game, I had about 800 notifications on my phone."

The championship game, a matchup between the last teams standing from the U.S. and international side of the bracket, is set for August 25.

El Segundo Little League, of California, won it all last year.
