Boerne teacher returns to class after mysterious absence, but district still won't explain why he was out for weeks

His sudden departure in late April prompted questions from students and their parents.

SAN ANTONIO — A beloved Boerne Champion High School welding teacher has returned to the classroom, to the relief of students wondering where he went for weeks without explanation at a critical time.

Those students told KENS 5 earlier this month that they were unable to finish their year-end projects in Mr. Vick's absence. Hundreds of people packed a school board meeting to demand answers, believing Mr. Vick was forced into his leave of absence.

District officials wouldn't provide clarification then, and they remain quiet on the issue this week, only saying there was "no criminal investigation" into the instructor.

But on Friday, Mr. Vick was back welding again., more than a month after his last appearance. Students say he hasn't spoken about the absence but returned just in time for an exciting opportunity: Film crews are featuring the welding program in a new series that will be launched soon on Outlaw TV.
