SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio author is celebrating the release of her new book with a special event at the nature preserve that inspired her story.
A new children's book, "Razoo in the Wetlands" by April Monterrosa was inspired by the Mitchell Lake Audubon Center in south San Antonio, which is currently celebrating 20 years of conservation.
Monterrosa's special book signing will be held on Pleasanton Road at the Mitchell Lake Audubon Center Saturday, November 2 from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monterrosa will share her inspiration behind the book, engage in a Q&A session, and sign copies for guests. Illustrator Jesus R. Garcia is also planning to attend the event.
The book follows Razoo, a dachshund who explores the wetlands along with some friendly animals and learns valuable lessons along the way.
According to a press release, Monterrosa is an award-winning entrepreneur and publisher of "Live From The Southside Magazine," the first woman-owned publication in south San Antonio. She currently serves as Mitchell Lake Audubon Center's Board Chair.
Monterrosa published "Razoo in the Wetlands" in February of 2024.
