SAN ANTONIO — Back on Jan. 6, 40-year-old Ramon "Ray" Saucedo went to help a family member with a tire issue when he was hit and killed by a distracted driver. Now, a community is rallying behind the family to help with funeral costs.
The incident took place on the northwest-side off 410 near Alamo Downs Parkway. Investigators said the driver that hit and killed Saucedo claimed to have dropped something on the floor of his car and was reaching for it when he struck Saucedo.
From Saturday to Sunday, Ray's family will be hosting a BBQ plate sale, selling chicken and sausage for $10 a plate at 2340 Culebra Road Unit 102.
Saucedo's sister said that their mother is still taking it very hard but the family refers to Saucedo as "our hero."
If you'd like to help, you can find the family's GoFundMe here, or you can drop off a donation in person at the family's business, The Anguiano Agency, located at 2340 Culebra.
