SAN ANTONIO — With the UConn Huskies celebrating a second straight NCAA title and March Madness fans paying up for winners of their respective bracket pools, the eyes of the collegiate basketball world now turn to the Alamo City, which will host the 2025 Final Four at the Alamodome.
Those games are set to take place April 5 and 7, 2025, with official festivities starting Friday, April 4. This will mark the fifth time San Antonio has hosted the Men's Final Four, and the first since 2018.
The Alamodome also hosted a pandemic-era Women's Final Four in 2021, and will do so again in 2029.
Preparations are now underway by the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee (SALOC) to make the 2025 Final Four a success. Officials say the committee returned Tuesday from Phoenix, where it saw "firsthand the execution by the Phoenix Local Organizing Committee and the NCAA to produce a safe, seamless and enjoyable event weekend for fans and local partners."
SALOC says it's currently "in the heart of the planning phrase," ironing out logistics for fan engagement, programs to engage local students, lodgings for teams and fans, and transportation that makes it easy to get around the Alamo City.
"San Antonio has a rich history of hosting the Final Four," SALOC Executive Director Elena Wells said in a statement. "We are confident that we will continue to provide a world-class stage for the 2025 event."
Are tickets available yet?
Sort of.
Basketball fans are now able to throw their names in the hat here for a randomized selection of Men's Final Four tickets. You have until May 31 to enter what is essentially a ticket raffle, which involves paying up front and in full for up to four tickets as well as a $25 application fee. Those lucky enough to get tickets will be notified this fall, while those left on the proverbial sidelines will get a refund (minus the application fee).
Early excitement
Meanwhile, the NCAA is already dribbling up anticipation for the 2025 Final Four. The mobile pop-up "Fan Jam" experience is touring several campuses across Arizona, New Mexico and Texas in the coming weeks, making it to San Antonio just in time for Fiesta events.
