SAN ANTONIO — A promenade the length of a football field that will host gatherings along "landscaped walkways, creek beds, a bandstand and shaded canopies" is coming to Fredericksburg.
But that will merely be the central element to a massive 117-acre mixed-use development coming to the Hill Country community.
San Antonio-based LB Development said in a press release that The Sycamore will bring retail, restaurants, wine tasting rooms and more to Fredericksburg. It'll be located on Luckenbach Road along Highway 290, and the first tenant has been announced: an all-new Salt Lick BBQ location 9,000 square feet in size, and including a tasting room and shop.
A price tag for the project hasn't been announced, but The Sycamore is expected to open in 2025. Renderings provided by LB Development tease a network of walking paths, patio areas and smaller performing spaces, similar to The Pearl in San Antonio but on a bigger scale. The firm promises "an environment that feels distinctly Texan" and a "wide cuisine range."
"We set a high standard to deliver a project that both complements the market and more importantly, the community," LB Development Managing Director Geoff Bley said in a release. "We have worked with the county, city and our neighbors to deliver exactly that."
In addition to renting out space for businesses, The Sycamore will also provide a space for holiday celebrations and other large-scale events. The release touts that it will feature sustainable elements "including low-impact design, rainwater harvesting, bioswales, pervious pavement, downlighting and more."
