SAN ANTONIO — A new Texas-inspired restaurant is opening its doors in December on the northwest side.

Haywire, known as a farm-to-fork restaurant, focuses on offering guests "true" Texas hospitality and an atmosphere that's perfect for celebrating birthdays, date night or everyday outings.

“You’re going to be treated like family here. And whether you’re from Texas, it’s going to feel like home, or if you’re visiting you’re going to leave understanding what Texas hospitality is all about," Zach Harris, General Manager of the La Cantera location said.

Executives at Haywire say their dedication to the farm-to-fork concept is successful by using ingredients and products that are locally sourced.

Their bar plans to offer various cocktails, draft beers, and wine options with Texas ties including Fredericksburg and Plano, with several TVs sprinkled throughout the area.

Chef Abel Sanchez says when guests glance at the menu they can expect hearty options like steaks, meat loaf, pork chops, fish, and other Texas staples. Harris, who is self-described as a through-and-through Texas boy says his personal favorite is the pork chops.

The new La Cantera location will have several interior and exterior seating arrangements including multiple private dining sections that can accommodate small or big groups, and a patio with an old school airstream.

Other Haywire locations in Texas include Dallas, Austin, Houston and Plano. Harris says San Antonio was the perfect location for their newest restaurant.

“I don’t think you can tell the story of Texas without including San Antonio, I mean it’s home to the Alamo. So, for us we feel it’s a perfect fit for this brand. As we like to say ‘we tell the story as well and inspire the true Texas spirit in all of us.’ We can’t tell that story without being in San Antonio. So [we] love it here and are happy to be here," Harris said.

Executives at Haywire say their restaurants are known for their larger-than-life experiences with simple yet sophisticated vibes and the La Cantera location will be no different.

“It starts with that Texas genuine hospitality first and foremost. It’s what Texas is famous for and it’s what we’re known for. Providing those elevated experiences. Everything’s bigger in Texas and larger than life. When you walk in you see how large these restaurants are and how great they are. That plays right into what Texas is and it’s what we’re about," Harris said.

Haywire executives say the La Cantera location is set to open its doors during the first week of December.
