SAN ANTONIO — It's almost time to lace up your running shoes San Antonio!

The Rock 'n' Roll Running Series returns to the Alamo City on Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8 for its 16th year.

The marathon takes contestants through the city, traveling by iconic landmarks, historic neighborhoods and a portion of JBSO-Fort Sam Houston. There will also be live bands at every mile along the course in an effort to keep runners energized and entertained, officials say.

Both seasoned marathoners and first-time participants are invited to experience the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. This year's course will feature a 5K and 10K on December 7, and a half marathon and full marathon on December 8. Participants who run the half and full marathon courses can join a post-race concert with various food and drink options at the finish line.

“We are thrilled to bring the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series back to the Alamo City for a 16th year,” said Adam Zocks, Race Director for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series San Antonio, "This isn't just a race; it's a celebration of community, culture, and strength – values deeply rooted in San Antonio. We're delighted to share this experience with the city again.”

The Rock 'n' Roll Running Series was established in 1998 as a simple idea to make running fun for participants. Every year the San Antonio event attracts thousands of visitors which in turn boosts the local economy, officials say.

The race is less than seven weeks away but officials say there's still time for prospective runners to increase their fitness and train for the event.

“With the year coming to a close, now is an optimal time to finish out strong with fitness goals and achieve 2024 resolutions. From preparing for the 5K, to taking on the challenge of training for the marathon, we encourage those who are looking to increase their fitness to register and experience the health benefits of this event,” says Zocks.
