SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio indie rock band reunited on stage during Muertos Fest in downtown San Antonio Saturday night.
Girl in a Coma announced in September that they would be headlining the event on Oct. 26. The all-girl band, consisting of sister’s Nina and Phanie Diaz and good fried Jenn Alva, previously disbanded in 2018, shocking their growing fanbase after over 20 years together.
In 2023 the group hosted a “Final Curtain” tour which consisted of several Texas shows in the hopes of bringing closure to their dedicated fans.
Nina mentioned on the "farewell" tour that fans would still be getting music from the talented ladies as she planned to focus on her solo career while Jenn and Phanie concentrated on their Latina punk group Fea.
In July 2024, the band announced on Instagram that after some time apart they decided to get back together and work on new music.
"Hey everyone ! I know we said we were done but you guys have overwhelmed us with so much love and messages that we decided to play more shows."
Muertos Fest took over Hemisfair Saturday and Sunday with live music, dancers, vendors, food and more. The two-day celebration is a significant cultural celebration that’s taken place in San Antonio for over a decade.
The trio took the Civic Park stage at Muertos Fest at 9:30 p.m., performing fan favorites like “Pink Lemonade,” “Clumsy Sky,” “El Monte,” "Their Cell" and finished in true San Antonio fashion with “Si Una Vez,” paying homage to beloved Tejano-legend Selena.
The band will be touring through Texas in November and December before heading across the country in 2025.
At Muertos Fest, the band said they hope their new album will be out by next fall.
