SAN ANTONIO — Art is coming to life on Saturday with the SMART Fair Family Day in San Antonio’s Lone Star neighborhood.
The fair will include live music, free workshops, art galleries from artists young and old... and one artist getting a head start in his career.
Seferino Gonzales may be just 4 years old, but this artist is already being featured in his second show. One of his favorite pieces, featuring a red monster truck, was inspired by his trips to Monster Jam.
"It's called 'Monster trucks run fast.' I like monster trucks and I’ve been to the Monster Jam, and I like it,” Seferino said.
Seferino has created several paintings. Each piece brings a smile to the face of his mother, Caroline.
“I just get really excited because I know how excited it makes him and that he's going to get to be vulnerable and share that with other people,” she said.
Seferino's parents, Caroline and Albert, are also artists and said the boy naturally picked up their skills.
"Just by accident, you know, he got into some paint and got onto some canvas and we said, 'You know, we'll just let him start working on canvas,'" Albert Gonzales said. "Before, it was just chalk on the ground and it kind of just blossomed from there."
With some guidance from his parents, Seferino created his own artistic process and is currently focused on monster truck-inspired art.
He said he's ready for everyone to see his work.
"I’m gonna plan out an art show whenever I want. I can do that whenever I want,” he said.
Guests can see Seferino’s artwork Saturday at the 1906 Studio Gallery on Flores Street from noon to 10 p.m.
