San Antonio Food Bank, CPS Energy sends critical supplies to Houston after disastrous storms

Texans are coming together to help the City of Houston recover from the hurricane-like storms that swept through earlier this week.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB) has sent critical supplies to their sister food bank in Houston to help people struggling after hurricane-like storms swept through the city earlier this week.

At 9 a.m. Saturday morning, the SAFB sent a tractor trailer full of water and snacks to the Houston Food Bank. This is the first request of the season for San Antonio to contribute during a natural disaster response in a neighboring region.

“Our hearts go out to our neighbors in Houston. San Antonio is at its best when it serves and gives. We are happy we could help storm recovery a tractor-trailer full of water and food,” the San Antonio Food Bank CEO stated.

CPS Energy is also sending extra help to restore the power to the thousands who lost it during the storm.

CPS will be assisting crews across the Houston area to restore power to citizens as well as the 125 traffic signals that were damaged by the storms.

The National Weather Service confirmed that two EF-1 tornadoes ripped through Southeast Texas during the storms that killed at least seven people.

Prayers to the City of Houston and everyone affected by these destructive storms.
