SAN ANTONIO — A week that started with San Antonio baker Manny Martinez winning big on the Food Network has ended with him announcing a new location at Wonderland of the Americas to sell spooky-sugary treats.
"Got the keys today!" Martinez posted on Instagram on Friday, teasing that The Grim Bakers, which he co-owns with his wife, is coming to the mall to satisfying customers' cravings year-round.
The Grim Bakers bills itself as a "one-of-a-kind destination for horror enthusiasts and dessert lovers alike."
The announcement caps a sweet few days for Martinez, who emerged victorious on the 2024 Halloween Baking Championship on Monday night, winning a $25,000 grand prize. That money, he said online, helped make The Grim Bakers' first brick-and-mortar location at Wonderland a reality.
"This experience has been unforgettable, a highlight of my life," Martinez wrote on social media after the win. "I'll carry with me everything I learned, along with the amazing relationships formed with my castmates. The bonds we share are unbreakable."
An opening date hasn't been specified, but fans of all things sweet and scary shouldn't have to wait long: Martinez wrote online that it'll open "just in time for a spooky Christmas this December."
