SAN ANTONIO — The City of San Antonio's official New Year's Eve celebration, dubbed CelebrateSA, returns this Dec. 31 with the help of the San Antonio Parks Foundation.
Annually, CelebrateSA brings in an excess of 70,000 of partygoers. This year that means tens of thousands of revelers getting their groove on; the theme for 2023 is "Dancing in the Streets." Attendees can expect live entertainment, fireworks and small side parties as part of CelebrateSA, the heart of which this year shifts from Hemisfair to Market Street between South Alamo and the Grand Hyatt.
The musical options will be numerous this year on the party's main stage, including alt-pop group Jefferson Clay; electronic rock trio Pop Pistol; pop-soul singer Shannon Sionna; and sets by DJ Cósmicaa showcasing "diverse Latin and disco sounds." The main stage will include LED screens with performances and messaging from local businesses ringing in the new year via live stream.
Partiers at the newly opened Civic Park can enjoy the Disco Picnic, a self-styled "garden party" featuring more DJs to keep the year's theme alive. The city is encouraging guests to show up early and secure a spot on the lawn for what it's calling "the best fireworks show in the city." You can also bring your own blankets and lawn chairs.
Additional entertainment will be available at the adjacent Arneson River Theater Stage in La Villita, and families will be able to take in the sights of the River Walk's holiday lighting.
“We’re delighted to showcase San Antonio’s diverse talent and culture on the eve of 2024, surrounded by the San Antonio community," Mary Jane Verette, president and CEO of the San Antonio Parks Foundation, said in the release.
The celebration will be free and open to the public on Saturday, Dec. 31, from 6 p.m. to midnight.
