SAN ANTONIO — Four Lone Star companies including a San Antonio vendor won a state-wide brand competition hosted by H-E-B.

Every year H-E-B searches for the best unique Texas-made products and Hess Street Foods of San Antonio won the first place prize in the 11th Annual HEB Quest For Texas Best Thursday.

Out of 450 entries only four companies in the state were chosen. Hess Street Foods won for their Chorizo seasoning paste and walked away with $20,000, only losing to Birria Queen in Austin, who earned the grand prize of $25,000.

Hess Street Foods along with Birria Queen (Austin), Certified Country Lemonade (Austin) and Encina (Dallas) have won a combined $70,000 in cash prizes and will sell their products in H-E-B stores statewide.

“A big, Texas-sized congratulations to each of this year’s winners and our finalists – small businesses that keep our communities vibrant and drive innovation across our state,” said James Harris, Sr. Director of Diversity & Inclusion and Supplier Diversity for H-E-B. “We continue to be impressed by the passionate entrepreneurial spirit our finalists showcase, and we look forward to sharing their creative products with more Texans.”

Judges and H-E-B Partners convened in Dallas' Fair Park for the final decision in the competition.
