SAN ANTONIO — With mostly dry evenings and cool temperatures in the forecast, it’ll be the perfect weekend jam-packed with holiday events to enjoy with the whole family. 

Here are our picks for the five family-friendly experiences you won't want to miss in San Antonio. 

Holiday Street Market

This three-day holiday event is sure to bring the joyous December spirit to downtown San Antonio. The Holidays on Houston Street Market features carefully curated artisan crafts, delectable treats, candles and clothing by South Texas artists.

Stroll down Houston Street and enjoy carolers, photo ops and lights in the sky as you explore all of the holiday magic.

La Gran Tamalada

La Familia Cortez presents a beloved San Antonio holiday season tradition: La Gran Tamalada Festival.

Happening at the Historic Market Square, this vibrant, community-centered event celebrates the cherished Mexican tradition of tamal-making. The festival features live music, working artists, pictures with Santa and food booths.

When: Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15

Holiday in the Village

In another historic location downtown, experience a day full of fun, food and festivities for the 2nd Annual Holiday in the Village at La Villita.

Choose from a variety of delicious holiday food options, live music, theater performances, a gingerbread house workshop, cookie decorating, photos with Santa, cuddling goats, “real snow” and so much more.

Holiday Night City

On Friday, join Texas Public Radio for Holiday Night City. The free, festive community event features live holiday music with Mariachi Las Alteñas, followed by Los Gatos.

There will also be vendors, food pop-ups, fire pits, drinks, photo ops and more.

Man's best friend puts on a parade

Think your dog looks cutest in an elf costume and has the most holiday spirit of any canine in town? You can prove it at the 5th annual Santa Paws Parade, a free event organized by The Dog Guide San Antonio. 

Along with a costume contest for your pooch, the event will also bring together vendors selling handmade dog accessories, treats and more. You're able to snag your furry family member an early Christmas gift while supporting local small businesses.
