SAN ANTONIO — The temperatures have finally dipped into the 40s in San Antonio, and in South Texas that only means one thing: The Christmas season is nigh.
As is Alamo City tradition, Travis Park is where the most joyous time of the year sparkles to life when the H-E-B Christmas Tree is lit. This year, the switch is set to be flipped on Friday, Nov. 29, where the free celebration will start at 4 p.m. with the lighting scheduled for around 6 p.m.
Families will be able to participate in holiday crafts, get started on their letters to Santa and catch a screening of "Home Alone 2" at 7 p.m. Those looking for a ride can use VIA Transit to get to Travis Park for free; just let the driver know upon boarding that you're attending the H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting.
And if you're looking to get your holiday lights fix satisfied even earlier, here are San Antonio-area displays for 2024, some opening as soon as this weekend.
