SAN ANTONIO -- Gilbert Ruiz, 20, was arrested Friday afternoon by members of the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in San Antonio. An arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an investigation by the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO), where Ruiz is accused of capital murder.
Thursday, members of the task force were contacted by members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force to assist in searching for Ruiz in San Antonio. They reportedly immediately initiated an investigation in locating and apprehending Ruiz.
Task force officers arrested Ruiz outside a residence located in the 2600 block of Cattle Bend Lane, according to a media release from the U.S. Marshals Service.
Task force officers reportedly observed Ruiz arrive at the residence in a vehicle and park in the driveway. Task force officers took him into custody without incident.
On Oct. 25, Ruiz is accused of shooting two victims in a vehicle and leaving them for dead in the 4700 block of North Shea Parkway, in Corpus Christi, TX.
Reports stated that one victim died at the scene and the other victim died at a hospital days later. Reports also stated that Ruiz and three other suspects were linked to numerous armed robberies that plagued the city. After an investigation by Corpus Christi police detectives, arrest warrants were issued for all four suspects. The other three suspects have since been arrested.
Ruiz is currently being held in custody at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
