After investigation, it was determined the 18-year-old would be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

SAN ANTONIO — An 18-year-old woman was shot while fighting over a handgun with another woman on the northeast side, police say.

At about 3 a.m. Saturday morning, police were called to the 4400 block of Rittiman Road for a disturbance with a gun. While enroute, the situation had escalated to a shooting.

When officials arrived, they found the 18-year-old suspect laying on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound to the shoulder. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening-injuries.

Based on investigation, it was determined that the suspect and two other women, aged 28 and 23 respectively, were involved in an argument. The three women were known acquaintances who police say have had verbal confrontations in the past.

Police say the 18-year-old arrived at the location and held a handgun at both other women. One of the women walked up to her and grabbed the gun in an attempt to disarm her. While they were fighting over the gun, it discharged and hit the 18-year-old in the shoulder.

After investigation, it was determined the 18-year-old would be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
