LEON VALLEY, Texas — A man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for a 2022 murder at a Leon Valley apartment complex.
According to a release from the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office, a shooting took place on April 27, 2022 outside an apartment complex in Leon Valley.
Officers found Darion Dixon on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Before he died, Dixon identified the alleged shooter as "Kenny".
On May 25, 2022, according to jail records, 54-year-old Kenith Harden was arrested and charged with the murder of Dixon.
On June 6, 2024, more than two years later, a Bexar County jury convicted Harden of the murder.
On Tuesday, a judge sentenced Harden to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
“Darion Dixon lived long enough to tell officers who murdered him, and his courage helped bring his killer to justice,” said Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales.
